Atlantic County VINELink Custody Coverage
New Jersey VINE is a free, confidential, multilingual service for crime victims and other concerned people. It is available through the web, mobile app, telephone, and TTY. Participating county and state agencies send custody data to the system. A live record can support a specific-person status check and notification registration. It is not the agency that creates the jail or prison record.
The official NJDOC brochure says VINE provides information only on people in custody. That makes it most useful while a person has a live participating record and an event may be approaching. It is weak as a historical Atlantic County release archive after a record ages out. For Gormley, the Division of Adult Detention record remains the durable county source. For a New Jersey state prisoner, NJDOC holds the custody and discharge data.
Coverage must also be read by system. VINE does not replace the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator, the ICE detainee locator, a court record, or a parole status inquiry. A county custody change can be a release to the community or transfer to another jail, NJDOC, or ICE. The destination and source-agency record resolve that difference.
Search Atlantic County VINELink Records
Begin at the official New Jersey VINELink portal. Search one person, not a broad list. The booked name or offender number is the starting key. If several matches appear, compare the reporting agency, facility, offender ID, age, and any limited descriptors before opening or registering on a record.
- Select New Jersey and choose the offender search.
- Enter the full booked name or offender number. Try a known alias or spelling variant if the first search fails.
- Compare each candidate with lawfully known identifiers and the expected county or state agency.
- Open the correct record and read custody status, reporting facility or location, offender ID, and event details.
- If no match appears, contact the expected custodian. Never translate “no match” into “released.”
The Atlantic County Division of Adult Detention page identifies the Gerard L. Gormley Justice Facility and its direct contact. A state-sentence check belongs in NJDOC. A short pretrial or county-sentence stay may never appear as an NJDOC record.

The state selection is only the first step. The identity comparison and source-agency record determine whether a result belongs to the Atlantic County person being checked.

VINELink fields vary by participating agency and record status. A result is a notification and lookup layer fed by that agency, not the legal release record. A release event means the reporting agency ended or changed its custody. It may not say that the person went home. If Gormley reports a transfer, inspect the destination and search the receiving system. If NJDOC shows a current institution, the person left Atlantic County custody but remains confined by the state.
Register Atlantic County Release Alerts
Registration starts from the correct live person record. New Jersey VINE may offer phone, text, app, email, or TTY, depending on the record and current interface. Register each chosen method separately. Use private contact details that the intended recipient controls, and update them when a phone number or email changes.

Confirm Atlantic County VINELink Alerts
A VINE alert is prompt evidence that the reporting agency sent a custody event. It can still lag, and it may reflect transfer rather than community release. Save the event date, time, message, agency, and shown location. Then contact the source office or request the underlying discharge or transfer record.
For Gormley, the Atlantic County Central Municipal Court page supplies Jail Records at 609-909-7551. Ask whether the county custody episode ended and what disposition or destination was recorded. The formal county record can be requested through Atlantic County OPRA. The court order or disposition explains legal authority but may not give the physical release timestamp.
For state custody, search the NJDOC Incarcerated Person Search. Read County of Commitment as case origin and Current Facility as location. Current Max Release Date and Current Parole Eligibility Date are calculated or prospective. Date Out-of-Custody, status, sentence history, parole information, and agency confirmation are stronger for an actual past event.
BOP and ICE maintain separate systems. VINE does not replace either one. A federal “Released” result is about BOP custody only, and an ICE result is about immigration custody only. Atlantic County Live Release Notifications
New Jersey’s VINE design combines agency-triggered release or transfer events with direct registration through phone, web, and app. The four-digit phone PIN is a distinctive acknowledgment step. It lets the system know the call reached the registrant. When a call is not acknowledged, the brochure describes messages and repeated callbacks within its stated period.
That speed is useful while a person is in custody, but the same design explains the service’s historical limit. The current brochure states that VINE gives information on people in custody. Once a live record is no longer available, a later search may return no match. That result cannot reconstruct the prior release event or replace a retained county or state record.
Use VINELink as the alert layer and the custodian’s record as proof. If the message reports release or transfer from Atlantic County, preserve it at once, note the source agency, and verify the destination. If parole or probation follows, the person can be outside the facility yet remain under supervision.
Atlantic County Custody Routes
The last custodian determines the correct tool. Gormley houses county detainees and some state-sentenced people awaiting shipment. A missing county record may point to NJDOC, another jurisdiction, or a federal agency rather than release. VINELink can help with a participating live county or state feed, but the next system must confirm any transfer.

For adult county records, match VINELink with the jail and court. Juvenile matters at Harborfields or Southern Residential Community Home follow confidential youth, guardian, attorney, and court channels rather than an adult public locator. The New Jersey State Police registry is also not a general release list and does not establish a release date.
The registry applies only to covered registrants, and not every sex-offense conviction appears in its public internet tier. Presence can show current registration information within that system. It cannot prove when Gormley or NJDOC released the person. Compare identifiers, follow the registry’s warnings against threats or harassment, and return to the custody and court records for the actual event.
Resolve Atlantic County Missed Alerts
A missed call, changed phone, full inbox, or old email can interrupt a notification path. Update contact data from the live record and register each offered method separately. The VINE toll-free operator can assist with a PIN reset or cancellation. TTY access is available through the number in the state brochure. These channels support access to the alert service, but they cannot change the source agency’s record.
If the expected alert never arrives, reopen the correct VINELink record and compare the reporting facility and offender ID. Then contact the last known custodian.
